This session is aimed at providing a review of theory and practical wound care in the general practice setting, for practice nurses, healthcare assistance and nurse associates already undertaking wound care within general practice.

- The general principles of wound healing and wound care
- Factors that delay and promote wound healing
- Different types of wounds and approaches to management- Grading and drainage
- Different dressings, how they work and when to use
- Recognising signs of infection and deterioration- NEWS SCORE
- Latest evidence, influencing policies and protocols
- Infection control and safe disposal of equipment
- Accountability
- Appropriate documentation of procedure- TIME model

- Recommended versus actual practice
- Sharing of good practice
- Sharing of new or up and coming new evidence
